Treatment, care and a portion of lost income paid by a New South Wales CTP insurer from notification, regardless of fault.
The New South Wales motor accident scheme has two stages. Statutory benefits are paid first, without proof of fault, for a period set by the scheme and depending on the seriousness of the injury and who was at fault. A separate claim for damages can follow for people who were not mostly at fault and whose injury is above the threshold.
This definition is specific to New South Wales. The same term can work differently in another state, and the glossary marks each entry accordingly.
