The number between 0 and 100 assigned to an injury in Queensland that fixes the amount of general damages.
Queensland civil liability legislation gives every injury an injury scale value, or ISV, within a range set for that type and severity of injury. The ISV converts to a fixed dollar amount of general damages. The medical assessment of permanent impairment feeds into where in the range the injury sits.
This definition is specific to Queensland. The same term can work differently in another state, and the glossary marks each entry accordingly.
