Mediation

All statesGoing to court

A settlement meeting run by an independent mediator, usually ordered by the court after proceedings are filed.

A mediator does not decide the claim; they manage the negotiation between the parties, who each attend with their lawyers. Mediation is without prejudice and is the point at which most claims that were not resolved at a compulsory or settlement conference are settled.
