Compulsory conference

QueenslandGoing to court

A mandatory settlement meeting in Queensland injury claims that must be held before court proceedings can be started.

Queensland motor accident, workers compensation common law and public liability claims all require the parties to meet at a compulsory conference before proceedings. If the claim does not settle, each side must make a mandatory final offer, which has costs consequences later. Most claims resolve at or soon after the conference.

This definition is specific to Queensland. The same term can work differently in another state, and the glossary marks each entry accordingly.
