Claiming TPD with Raiz Invest
A TPD claim is made to the fund, not straight to the insurer. The trustee of Raiz Invest receives the claim and passes it to the insurer that holds the group policy, the insurer assesses it against the policy's definition of total and permanent disability, and the trustee then decides whether to accept the insurer's decision. If the claim is paid, the benefit goes into your Raiz Invest account before it is released to you.
What matters most is the definition in the policy that applied when you stopped work, and whether your cover was still in force at that date. Policies change over time, so the current product disclosure statement may not be the one that applies. If you have more than one super account, each may hold its own cover and each claim is made separately. Our article on the fund, the trustee and the insurer explains who does what, and what you can do if you disagree with a decision.
Are you a Raiz Invest member?
If illness or injury has stopped you working, it is worth finding out what cover sits in your Raiz Invest account, and in any other super accounts from past jobs. Our page on TPD and income protection claims explains how a claim is assessed.
