New South WalesWorkers compensation

The New South Wales government insurer that underwrites most workers compensation policies, with claims managed by its agents.

Most New South Wales employers are insured through icare, and claims are handled day to day by a claims service provider acting for it. Some large employers are self insured or insured by a specialised insurer. The rules are the same whichever insurer is involved.

This definition is specific to New South Wales. The same term can work differently in another state, and the glossary marks each entry accordingly.
