Activities of daily living

All statesTPD and income protection

An alternative TPD test in some policies based on inability to perform basic daily tasks, rather than inability to work.

Some policies apply an activities of daily living test where the person was not working at the date of disablement, where they did not satisfy an “active employment” or “at work” requirement when their cover commenced, or as an alternative definition. It asks whether the person can perform basic tasks such as bathing, dressing, feeding and moving about without assistance. It is a much harder test than the occupation based definitions.
