The two work capacity TPD tests found in most policies. Own occupation asks whether you can do your usual job; any occupation asks whether you can do any job suited to your background.
Most superannuation TPD policies use an any occupation definition, which is harder to meet because it asks whether the person could work in any occupation suited to their education, training or experience. Own occupation cover, more common in retail policies, asks only about the person’s usual occupation. The wording of the particular policy decides which applies.
