A TPD or income protection claim usually lands at the worst possible moment, when someone's health and their finances are both under pressure. My job is to make sure the process does not add to that.

What I do

I am a Partner at Tae & Partners, based in Melbourne, acting for clients nationally on TPD, income protection and superannuation claims, including trauma, death benefit and terminal illness claims. My focus is on making sure clients are paid what they have spent years contributing towards. I also act for clients whose claims have already been declined, working to overturn adverse decisions through internal dispute resolution and, where necessary, external complaints processes and litigation.

How I got here

My father was always quietly hopeful I would become a doctor or a lawyer. I started out studying biomedical science, but soon realised that law was my passion, and went on to complete my Bachelor of Laws at La Trobe University. Since 2019 I have worked exclusively in superannuation and insurance, acting for clients at the point where their health and finances are both under strain. That experience has sharpened my understanding of exactly how these claims move from lodgement to a decision, not just the law behind them, but how insurers and trustees actually make that call.

Values

I built my practice around one simple discipline: keeping every file moving, week to week. Earlier in my career, I saw straightforward claims drag on for longer than necessary, not because the case itself was complicated, but because the file only came off the shelf once a month. I chase insurers weekly because momentum is often the difference between a claim resolving in months rather than years. Being efficient is not about rushing a case, it is about making sure clients get paid as soon as their claim genuinely allows.

Outside the office

When I am not working, most of my time goes to my two Alaskan Malamutes, who I adore. I love spending time with my family and friends, exploring new food spots and wine bars.
